Sparks flared high above the group in the stairwell as electricity sizzled and snapped. A cable had been jarred loose and a track light now hung limp and extinguished. It was this sound that made Epsilon glance up. The sparks would flare then die down and eventually, flare up again. Epsilon frowned and continued to stare, as if she saw something the rest of the group did not see. It was when she leapt the final few flights of the stairwell to land on the still solid ground below that she gave way to something being wrong.
Then again...everything was wrong in this place.
A third explosion rocked the stairwell, this time loud and close and with that explosion, the blast tore through the stairwell a few floors above. Debris rained down on them; fragments of stone and metal slicing through the air first before larger chunks broke away from the walls to tip downward and descend towards the group. The bottom of the stairwell greeted them with a door and like the rest, this door refused to open on their command.
Epsilon yelled out at Eefri as she finally made her way down with Ivory and Varkin. "Hold that rubble!" And with that, Epsilon slammed her saber into the door to cut away at their obstruction to safety while trusting Eefri to call on the force to keep the debris from crushing them all.
Epsilon focused on Eefri to be the strongest of the group as Ivory's growing pain would hinder them and Varkin needed to be protected the most. Her saber slowly cut through the metal as the stairwell began to tremble, crack and break above them.
In this situation, focused on survival and escape, the group would remain oblivious to the temptation Cirocco now felt. The stairwell would be their doom should they not escape the falling debris but a worse fate would find them should their darker companion give in to the call of the very object they sought to destroy.
