Because Dark Jedi have zero access to alchemy and sith magic (as it has always been and always will be), it stands to reason that they have less to study and thus, have more freedom to study whatever is left.
What this means is that Dark Jedi are stronger in some of the baseline powers as a result of their inability to access things like magic and alchemy.
The powers Dark Jedi are stronger in are as follows:
Rage
Aura of unease
Fear
Blackness
One single telekinetic power of their choice, not including saber-throw or force push
Lightning
Note: the Dark Jedi Knight version of lightning, apart from being a full move, has only a two meter range (compared to the master's four meter range), only stuns if it hits the head or chest and needs to be held for 3 full moves before it kills them (masters kill after two moves of force frying). Its also absorbable with the force by other lvl threes and of course, blockable by a saber.
The way it works is this:
When someone joins the dark jedi and that start as an apprentice, they are like a normal lvl2 darksider except that can function in one level above their own in the powers listed above.
This continues until (if) they reach master - in which case they are just lvl4s. The advantage to this is that they don't have to wait for lightning (since they had it as knights) and need not worry about picking either alchemy, sith magic or a mix between the two, nor do they need to choose powers to be weaker in.
So basically, a dark jedi apprentice can use level 3 blackness and a dark jedi knight can use level 4 aura-of-unease.
They still function as normal in their other powers. And once the TK upgrade is chosen, it can't be changed later. And they still have to deal with powers as normal. So a lvl3 DJ can still only lessen force pushes of their same rank and below etc.
The "TK upgrade" (for one telekinetic power only, not including saber-throw or force-push) must be made known to management who will make a record of it.
Note: These dark jedi upgrades only apply to dark jedi who have been at their rank (whether lvl 2 or 3) for at least two RL weeks. And we will be keeping track, so cheaters will face possible BIFLI death.
Another thing:
A jedi who turns to the darkside is by definition, a "dark jedi". However, such a being is not automatically of the dark jedi order - before that happens, they are really classed as a rogue jedi or a fallen jedi.
Any dark jedi can become a jedi (if they turn light) and vice versa. But such a one can never become a sith.
Any sith can become a jedi (if they turn light) and vice versa. But such a one can never become a dark jedi.
Any jedi can become a fallen or rogue jedi.. and then decide IF they will go on and become a sith or dark jedi proper.
So Epsilon could become a fallen jedi or a sith, but never a dark jedi.
Likewise, Leongatha could fall and become a dark jedi or just a fallen jedi, but never a sith.
This way, people can still turn one way or another, but no "power cheating" can happen.
For those who are wondering what happens to sith and dark jedi who have changed from one order to other in the past, the answer is simple: Whatever your character is now, or was in their last change (if they are light or unaffiliated now), that is what can be.
So if a character has been first a dark jedi, then became a sith and then became a bounty hunter, they can if they wish, become a sith again, but not a dark jedi. It depends on the order of the changes.
Also, one may ask the question: Can bounty hunters be dark jedi as well?
The answer is yes, but within certain limits. While the dark jedi need not be so picky when it comes to adherance to their code, they still have to acknowledge and follow it.
A dark jedi apprentice, may find an order from their master to be in contradiction to the requirements of a certain bounty. And dark jedi are STILL considered evil and thus, cannot be friends with jedi etc.
Management will soon discuss if it is valid for dark jedi (and sith) to pursue romantic relationships as well.
*Dark Jedi are not a means to sneak in "shadow jedi" principles when no one is looking, so don't try it*
Now for all the sith who are moaning that they have missed out, relax - remember that sith still have access to things like sith magic and in some cases, alchemy. These powers can do things that range from destroy cities and worlds (like the "clouds" spell or the "death rain" spell), fire "bolts of hatred", incinterate people ("pryokinetic kill"), augment and or alter genetic codes (with alchemy), create cool unique runes and even make saber resistant swords (again with alchemy)
