*Once again appointed representative of Lyssa, Rhakam Mistral stands up to adress the senate*
My fellow senators. It is my pleasure to announce that Lyssa has decided to once again petition to join the Republic.
In the past, Lyssa had retracted it's membership of the Republic because we did not agree with the course this institution had taken under the poor leadership of certain individuals. Now however, we feel that the Republic can once again be the proud alliance of planets it was meant to be: a solid union of worlds in which the whole is far greater then the sum of it's parts. An organisation meant to facilitate cooperation between worlds, nations and peoples. We would therefore be honored if the Republic Senate would allow us to rejoin. We believe the Lysshan have much to offer to the Republic, and that the Republic, in turn, has much to offer us.
To the betterment of all.
Thank you.
*with that, the Lysshan representative sits down again.*
((OOC:
info on Lyssa:
Lyssa is mostly a desert and mountainous planet. The planet, as well as the surrounding system and asteroid belt, is rich in minerals, ores and fuels. These are also Lyssa's primary export goods. Lyssa is an arid world however, and teh ever growing population of the Lysshan has meant that the world now imports significant amounts of food in order to maintain the current standard of living. Besides food, medical supplies such as bacta are also in quite high demand.
The Lysshan people:
The Lysshan people are a reptillian humanoid race. Having evolved on a desert planet, they have a very high tolerance for high temperatures, but are very quickly affected by cold. The yare fine in normal room temperature, but sub-zero temperatures can quickly prove fatal for an unprotected Lysshan if he isn't careful. For this reason, they tend to either carry an environmental suit at all times or keep one close by in case of emergency.
Lysshan have a dinosaur-like head (think some type of raptor) and sport sharp claws and fangs.
Military wise, the Lysshan have an average fleet with very little exceptional ships. If anything, their capital ships could be considered somewhat underpowered when compared to the general standard. They do excel in one thing however, and that is boarding. Lysshan boarding teams are very highly skilled and very well armed elite warriors. Their delivery ships are very fast and agile while still boasting impressive armor for their class. Lysshan tactics usually consist of getting the main ships close enough to sucessfully deploy boarders which then quickly disable or if possible even hijack the enemy vessel, taking it out of the fight but preserving as much of the enemy technology and resources as possible.
End of OOC. all this info is, of course, available IC as well.))
