The Vaapad style fighting technique, was invented by Mace Windu. Since this RP is set way before Windu's time how is it that people still use it here? Just an observation and I'm curious as to what some of your replies will be ;D

actually, the entire fighting styles, vapaad, teras kaasi and what not dont really matter, simpyl because we have a turnbased rp. so every attack is a try, every defense is a must. you can add vaapaad all you like to your profile, but still can be beaten by a nfu in oone strike if you mess your defense up.
and yep we have all the tech stuff but placed it a 100 years before the films to avoid vaders on steroids, lovesick anakins and a gazillion leias, lukes, hans and whatnots running around

Exactly like Ivory says: all the tech, styles, etc. from canon are available. We just don't have any vaders, lukes, leias, hans and godforbid, anakins running around. Styles aren't that important because of the turn-based combat system, but they can still be used for coolness purposes and for the general "feel" of attacks. For example a person who says they use Form IV may use more acrobatics in their attacks: Force jumping and dashing this way and that (watch out for mid-air attacks though. never ever use those) and using terrain to their advantage while a person using Form II may use very quick strikes from the wrist rather then big wide lunging slashes.
In essence, forms aren't that important at all. Most people just fight how they like without pinning themselves down on a single form. A nice touch however, is thinking about how you generally fight, then look up the Form that most resembles your style and claim that's the one you use.
For example, as Coco I tend to fight with more of a fencing style: smaller, controlled strikes and avoiding very wide slashes. I also tend to use my off-hand for defenses, I make elaborate attacks and engage and disengage my saber a lot in combat. If you look up that sort of fighting (thank you wookieepedia), it's a very good match to Form II (makashi) with a dash of the sub-form Trakata in there.
Hey, presto: coco is a Form II user.
I personally really like doing this. It adds a nice bit of character depth for minimal effort.

I personally think that it would be better to use Juyo since its an established lightsaber form but there is no reason someone other than Mace invented a lightsaber form called Vaapad and made it accessible to other force users.
Not that it really matters--its not the lightsaber form its the person using it.
Between my characters, I've taken down as many as four masters and some knights (lost count) and I'd never even heard of Vaapad until well after episode 2 came out. Obi-Wan described Yoda as being the greatest living swordsman in the order and yet Yoda was a master of Ataru (form 4).
There is no such thing as an ultimate lightsaber form that ensures victory and even if there was, it falls to the user to be skilled.
