yeah I'm back and that means you guys get these again. Besides, wouldn't it be a waste for DRT to go without their transcripts to nitpick? so here goes, it's a short one: Sith_evildude slashes at jedi_niceguy in a horizontal slash at waist level jedi_niceguy ducks low under the saber ov sith_evilguy, letting it pass harmlessly overhead sith_evildude seeing as most people can't duck below waist height easily, sith_evildude takes off the very tip of jedi_niceguy's head, leaving his brains to spill out onto the floor very messily. Now personally, I say that call is invalid due to the fact that a) your average person to me seems capable to duck below waist level and b) sith_evilguy does not get to call how low jedi_niceguy can duck. that is a detail of a defense that according to the rules is fully up to the defender. Still, a ruling on this would be appreciated to avoid future disagreements. Thank you! Coco

oh yes I almost forgot: this was in a spar between me and dami so if he wants to add anything I forgot, please allow him to do so and don't call the "no posts here other then DRT" rule since he may have information I missed or forgot to mention. It was a friendly spar after all and no wounding calls were made.
thank you,
coco

The main problem was this. My char was rushing at him and he just 'ducked' out of nowhere pretty much, now I am pretty sure that not many people can just drop down below waist level that quick. The way I see it is it was not just the matter of ducking it, but how quickly he had done it. Now I may be wrong, but when I tryed it I A) almost fell over the first time trying to avoid the imaginary saber coming at me. And B) Was kneeling with my head at about the level of my waist. Granted I stand at 6'3 and have a long torso but still. If I am wrong by all means tell me so I don't get confused in future cases lol. Thank you for the time of the DRT.

you both have valid points, but to make a clear ruling, it wold be helpful to know how fat sith evil dude was way from jedi nice guy interesting that the sparring jedi in this is the sith evil dude and the dark jedimaster is jedi nice guy...hidden wishes?

in this particular situation dami's char charged at coco after coco had force jumped away, so that makes it several meters distance. However, even without that there are, I think, several factors that make this defense perfectly valid.
a) ducking that quickly is perfectly possible. Taz and I have nerf swords, we tried it out, the defender successfully made the duck every single time. Now that is an untrained geek doing the defense and succeeding. Rushing increases your forward speed, but not the speed of the slash. Slashing is done out of the arm and the hip. A forward rush would, if anything, slow the slash down a little. Rushing makes it more powerful, yes, but not faster. The quickest attack with a light fencing weapon (which is what a lightsaber is really. It doesn't have mass. they don't get much lighter then that) is a slash from a stationary position. And again, an untrained geek cleared it every time.
b) it's a speed issue. and speed issues, as well as strength issues, go to the defender. That is also the reason why when I attempt to ignite a blade into someone's body, they can get away with a dodge out of the way even though saber ignition is almost insantaneous.
c) Any master is pretty athletic. Not to mention they have enhanced speed, enhanced reflexes and danger sense. Reflex and movement speeds really should not be a problem.
That's about it. Also if you guys would prefer me not posting anything else to avoid a massive amount of discusison please let me know and I will refrain from doing so

It isn't impossible to do this dodge even at close range with little warning, as you duck your' upper body down, you shift your' weight onto one leg and then take it out from under you, you'll smash your' knee into the ground, but as the blade comes in, your' head would be below crotch level.
You can then use this set up to place a nice uppercut to the groin as you stand back up or after the fall strike at the knee, achilles tendon, or the instep. Either of these locations would do significant amounts of pain and possibly cripple your' opponents' ability to jump, stand, walk, run, and kick (the tendon is one that controls foot movement, the instep is a bone braces all the weight on that foot, the knee even being pushed aside could take the leg out from under the sith, and the groin just plain hurts.
Aside from that, you can't really say how fast or agile some one else is, by the rules that is left to the defender. So I would say the defense is valid.

well i have ivory often lean her upper body backwards..that is like ducking the ther way round and especially with dami being several meters away when he charged i give this a valid defense
